This is a thicker silicone oil that's suitable for lubricating heavier, higher load capacity applications. When applied on surfaces, it creates a strong, durable film that acts as a seal or barrier to protect against moisture, corrosion and other environmental hazards.
Silicone oil has many excellent characteristics such as its compability with many different material surfaces including metal, plastic, wood, rubber, vinyl and leather. It also has the ability to withstand and stay effective in a wide temperature range. These properties make silicone one of the best choices for use as a lubricant, protectant and polish. While other viscosities will work for the below listed applicaitons, we recommend this higher viscous, 1000 cSt silicone oil (comparable to 75 WT) for the following or similar applications:
» Protect car door rubber seals
» Prevent snow from sticking on snowblowers
» Protect metal tools and surfaces from rust and corrosion
» Fix noisy moonroofs or sunroofs
While we recommend the 1000 cSt silicone oil for the above applications, using our slightly thiner 350 cSt silicone oil will also work well and maybe preferred by some users. Silicone oil is extremely versatile with numerous uses at home and in the workplace, see the more silicone oil applications with other viscosities.
The below video will give you a good idea of the thickness of 1000 cSt silicone oil:
The viscosity or thickness of a liquid is measured in centistokes, abbreviated as cSt. Water is 1 centistokes and as the number increases so does the thickness. Learn about centistokes (cSt).
Unlike regular silicone oil that's made from a highly energy intensive process, our eco-friendly silicone oil has significantly lower carbon footprint and redirects silicone rubber scrap that would have been landfilled but instead is given a second life.
Silicone spray lubricants use silicone oil as its active ingredient for lubrication, however, sprays usually contain just a small amount of silicone oil, approximately 3-8% of volume. The remaining ingredient is genearlly a misture of solvents that thin out the silicone oil so it can be easily applied. Once sprayed, the solvent evaporates as a VOC and leaves behind a thin layer of silicone oil acting as the lubricant. Silicone sprays are not only bad for the environment, it's very inefficient as usualy more than 90% of the bottle is meant to just evaporate.
Our silicone oil is made in the USA at our state-of-the-art recycling facility located in West Virginia. It's made in the first and only silicone recycling plant in North America!
